Key Lime Cupcakes

So, we are back to our 'fall' schedule.  I am watching Mikaela 2-3 days a week and loving every minute of it.

Today, I made Key Lime Cupcakes with a candied lime on top.  They turned out pretty good.  These cupcakes have a graham cracker crust, are filled with key lime filling and iced with key lime butter cream icing.  They are garnished with graham cracker crumbs and a candied lime slice!

Now, I'm tired and ready for bed, but I really want a cupcake... but I am taking them to a picnic tomorrow, so I will be good!

Good night all!

Oh my... Time sure flies when you are having fun!

Wow, I can't believe that it is almost August 1, 2012.  I have been very lax in keeping anything current on my blog.  Sorry about that, but life has gotten in the way of so many things recently.

My youngest daughter has been dealing with thyroid issues since January, which ended with two trips to the ER, two hospital stays and surgery to remove her offending thyroid.  We got back all the medical reports and she did/does, in fact, have Graves Disease.  Now we are trying to get the medications adjusted so that she is back to feeling good and enjoying being 20!

My wonderful granddaughter turned 1 last weekend.  I have been busy working on sewing projects for her birthday!  In the middle of that, I decided to have a fight with my rotary cutter... needless to say, I lost.  Four stitches and $300 later, I was able to finish up the last book for her birthday.

And here is the birthday girl enjoying her first birthday cake!

I made this little book bag for Mikaela for her books.
The little girl in the design reminds me of Mikaela!

This is her book of numbers.  I was working on this when I had my run-in with the rotary cutter!

A book of the alphabet!  I few of these pages had to be redone when the original choice for the letter did not stitch out well, but in the end, I am happy with the choices for each letter.

My children were surprised that I used fish for 'f'.  They thought it would be a flamingo!  But pig did make it for letter 'p'!
(I like flamingos and Grampa likes pigs)

And here is the offended finger :(

On a happier note, we have been blessed with friends who have an abundance of tomatoes and peppers, so I have been busy making salsa!  Never realized how much better homemade salsa is than the jarred stuff from the store... I might be spoiled now.  We made 17 8oz jars, 2 quart jars and 10 pint jars of salsa!

I have also put about 24 cups of blackberries in the freezer to make blackberry muffins, cobbler and whatever else strikes my fancy.

It is hard to believe that summer is almost over!  I head back to watching my grandbaby full time next week.  I am quite excited about getting to see her almost every day again!  Love that little girl.

Enjoy your day!

Happy New Year - A Little Late

Can you believe it?  January is over half gone, and my wonderful granddaughter is already 6 months old!  It is hard to believe.  She is such fun.

This You Tube video is of her enjoying her singing elephant!  It was so much fun watching her interact with it.

I just ran across this contest for a free copy of the book 'Sew the Perfect Gift' and thought I would share it with you all.

I hope everyone is having a great New Year.  Enjoy your week!

FSL Snowflakes

This is the time of year that I usually make some of these snowflakes.

If you are interested in these snowflake ornaments, let me know.  They are machine embroidered with rayon thread, then dusted with micro-glitter so they sparkle.

Merry Christmas

Gramma's Sewing Room

Well, I have been busy with some sewing projects, crocheting and general crafting.  Here are some of my projects:

These are some of the burp clothes that I have been making.  They are flannel on both sides with cotton batting in the middle.  If interested in some for your little ones, let me know!

I have also been working on hair bows that will clip on hairbands right now, but be able to clip in hair when there is hair.  If you are interested in any of these, let me know and I will talk with you about colors, themes etc!

And this is my wonderful granddaughter Mikaela showing off her new hat!  It is crocheted with curly pig tails and bows.  Again, let me know if you are interested in one of these.  I currently have another one made of pink camo yarn ready for someone to enjoy.

Hope everyone had a good Thanksgiving.  Enjoy this holiday season with your family and friends.

Merry Christmas

Where has the time gone...

I can't believe that it is already August. I will be sending my baby off to college in 2 weeks. I can't believe that she is already 19 years old.

My son graduated in June from the Central Virginia Criminal Justice Academy and now is a police officer with the city of Lynchburg, VA. We are so proud of him!

My son and his wife just made me a gramma 2 weeks ago... Miss Mikaela Kathleen Isner was born on July 21, 2011, weighing in at 8 lbs 7 oz, 21 1/4" long. She is absolutely beautiful.

We have moved from the Fredericksburg VA area to Blue Ridge VA. We relocated the end of June, enabling me to watch my granddaughter when everyone goes back to work. I am VERY excited to get to spend time with Mikaela.

My husband's new job is Facilities Manager for Camp VA Jaycee owned by Dare to Care Charities, Inc. . We live on site at the camp, so that we are available 24/7. It is the PERFECT job for him. He is enjoying the job, the 90 acres, a swimming pool, pond, 8 cabins, and various other buildings and all that it entails.

This is the view out my back door:
Here is the pond on the property:

I haven't been doing much sewing lately because of packing/unpacking etc, but I hope to get all my 'stuff' organized soon and get some new projects going.

I have been doing digital scrapbooking, though, with lots of pages of my new grandbaby! She is just such an easy subject to scrap!

I hope that everyone is enjoying their summer and looking forward to a beautiful fall.

Be Blessed

New Pages...

Hope everyone is having a good month so far. Here are some of the pages that I have done in the last few days! Most of these were done for challenges at Digi Design Resort. It is a great place to hang out if you are an avid digi-scrapper (or even if you aren't an avid scrapper. Lots of great stuff going on and lots of inspiration.

I am going to be a Grandma in July ~ and it is going to be a GIRL! So excited!!

We went to a friend's wedding in FL in February. Here are 3 pages that I made from her pictures.

This is my beagle baby when she was a bitty puppy! She is still a cutie!

One of my past times is watching the birds at the feeders outside the window. It is so peaceful to watch them and see the different varieties. We have had black-capped chickadees, downy woodpeckers, white-breasted nuthatches and the ever present snowbirds or juncos.

A page about me, who I am, what I do, what I like, what is important to me...
